The Irish Professional Conservators' and Restorers' Association (IPCRA) provides a forum for those professionally engaged in the preservation of Ireland's man-made heritage. The Association’s main objectives are to promote within Ireland the practice of conservation of historic and artistic material to internationally accepted standards; and to improve public awareness and understanding of the need for conservation. Our members work in both the public and private sectors on objects as diverse as oil paintings, paper, furniture, bog bodies, ceramics, buildings and sculpture. Beyond the information found here on the website, our members provide professional advice and support to curators, architects and exhibition designers. Many of our members work with private clients and local heritage groups who are looking for guidance as how to best look after their collections or artefacts. The Association publishes a bi-annual newsletter and holds regular meetings throughout Ireland which feature presentations by members on aspects of their work and visits to historic sites and collections.
