The Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works in Ireland (ICHAWI) was established in 1991. Its main objective is to promote for the benefit of Ireland the preservation of Historic and Artistic works.

The Heritage Council was established under The Heritage Act, 1995 and has a broad remit in promoting policy advice across the diversity of Ireland’s heritage, with specific remits in areas such archaeology, architecture, and inland waterways.

The Irish Museums Association is a voluntary, not for profit organisation dedicated to promoting the interests of museums and those who work in them throughout Ireland, both north and south.

The Council of National Cultural Institutions [CNCI] is a statutory body established under the Heritage Fund. The purpose of the Council is to facilitate the pooling together of talent, experience and vision of the Directors of the National Cultural Institutions in furtherance of the national cultural interest and to make recommendations to the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism on proposed acquisitions using the Heritage Fund Act, 2001.

The Irish Georgian Society is a membership organisation whose purpose is to promote awareness and the protection of Ireland's architectural heritage and decorative arts.

The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, usually known as the National Trust, is a conservation organization in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The National Trust for Scotland is the conservation charity that protects and promotes Scotland's natural and cultural heritage for present and future generations to enjoy. With over 297,000 members it is the largest conservation charity in Scotland and it depends for its support on donations, legacies, grants and membership subscriptions.

COnservation OnLine is a vast source of information about conservation, providing access also to the Conservation Distribution List (Cons DistList).

The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council promotes best practice in museums, libraries and archives, to inspire innovative, integrated and sustainable services for all.

International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) dedicated to the conservation of cultural heritage. It exists to serve the international community as represented by its Member States, which currently number more than 125.

International Academic Projects Ltd (IAP) was formed in London in 1989 as an international educational charity whose aims are to help promote education, training and research into conservation, archaeology, anthropology and other related fields.

The Irish Museums Association  is a voluntary, not for profit organisation dedicated to promoting the interests of museums and those who work in them throughout Ireland, both north and south.

The Archives and Records Association is the lead professional body for archivists, archive conservators and records managers in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

INCCA is a network of professionals connected to the conservation of modern and contemporary art. Conservators, curators, scientists, registrars, archivists, art historians and researchers are among its members. Members allow access to each others unpublished information (artist interviews, condition reports, installation instructions etc) through the INCCA Database for Artists' Archives.
Since its inception in 1999, the network has grown from 23 to almost 600 members (including independents and students) from 400 organisations in around 50 countries. (February 2011).

Institute for Conservation (ICON) is the lead voice for the conservation of cultural heritage in the UK. Icon's membership embraces the wider conservation community, incorporating not only professional conservators in all disciplines, but all others who share a commitment to improving understanding of and access to our cultural heritage.

ARCHITECTURE IRELAND is the Official Journal of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland founded in 1839, is the governing body of the profession in Ireland. ARCHITECTURE IRELAND'S main objective is to give the widest possible coverage to both Irish architecture and to Irish architects.

Smithsonian's Museum Conservation Institute was founded in 1963 as the Conservation Research Laboratory of the United States National Museum. A year later it became the Conservation Analytical Laboratory (CAL), a name it retained for almost 25 years. It was renamed the Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and Education (SCMRE) in 1998 when its new mandate was to formulate and conduct training and education programs in conservation. The Smithsonian's Museum Conservation Institute (MCI) better reflects our new mission: to become the center for specialized technical collections research and conservation for all Smithsonian museums and collections.

The American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) The American organization of conservation professionals dedicated to preserving the art and historic artefacts of our cultural heritage for future generations.

Canadian Association for Conservation (CAC) aims to further the dissemination of knowledge concerning the conservation of Canada's cultural property and heritage. See also the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators (CAPC) , which is dedicated to the accreditation of professional conservators and the maintenance of high standards in conservation of art and cultural property in Canada. 

The Traditional Paint Forum (TPF) was set up in 1994 as a membership forum for discussing and promoting a better understanding and appreciation of traditional paint. If you are interested in the myriad of issues involved in the use of traditional paint, in an architectural context, your membership of the Forum could support the ongoing debate and we would welcome your involvement.

The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings was founded by William Morris in 1877 to counteract the highly destructive 'restoration' of medieval buildings being practised by many Victorian architects. Today it is the largest, oldest and most technically expert national pressure group fighting to save old buildings from decay, demolition and damage.
